Jalan Robson was named after John Henry Matthew Robson on 25 September 1954. He was the founder and editor of Malay Mail.
When he first came to Malaya, he joined the Selangor Railways as a clerk and later a draughtsman before joining the Selangor Civil Service. While working in the government, he also started the Selangor Journal in 1892 and ran this journal until 1896.
Robson then resigned from the civil service and founded the Malay Mail. Unfortunately, he was incarcerated as a prisoner of war during World War 2 and died in the prison.
