A short stretch along Jalan Sin Chew Kee and Jalan Galloway is one of the rows that still boasts colonial architectures in the city. Almost all of the buildings at that row is still in its original structure and untouched. At one point of time, that street is slightly deserted with only residents staying there would pass by.
In a fast developing city, it is difficult to prevent old buildings and lands being sold off for major developments. But in this case, in terms of preserving heritage architecture, fortunately, some of the landlords and business owners at Jalan Sin Chew Kee decided to refurbished their units into trendy commercial spaces that grabs the attention of people.
As those streets is off from the busy roads of the city, it can be a Give a little visit to the short street and you might find a place you want to chill at.

Three Years Old Cafe
If you’re looking for a place to enjoy some good coffee and cakes, this dreamy and creamy-hued cafe is a good choice at Jalan Sin Chew Kee. Painted all white with a clean look and located at the corner of the street, you simply couldn’t miss out this building. They even have an option for outdoor seating where you can enjoy some breeze and fresh air.

With most of the original building structure preserved, the rustic looking bar is popular with gin. When you enter the premises, you will notice the shelf against the exposed brick wall which displays numerous choices of gins from the commons ones to the rares.
Run by CK and Chye – the brains behind the award winning Coley, Pahit is a must place to visit whether you’re a cocktail or gin lover. An evening with your friends at the bar would be a great choice.

Sarang Cookery
If you do not have the time to travel to Penang and Malacca for tasty Peranakan cuisine where those states are known for due to the historical background, fret not!
