The Sound of Music is Coming to Kuala Lumpur and Malaysians Can Be Part of it

The much-loved musical that many people have grown up with, The Sound of Music is coming to Kuala Lumpur city this coming December 2022.

Produced by Broadway International Group, Simone Genatt and Marc Routh and presented by Base Entertainment Asia, it is directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien.

The musical which is based on the true story of the Von Trapp family singers will be staged at Istana Budaya, Jalan Tun Razak.

To make it even better for Malaysians, the producers will be casting for 18 children, aged six to 14, to play the Von Trapp children, with each child expected to be skilled in acting, dancing and singing.

The auditions will be held at the Grand Hall in the Dominicus Art Venue at Wangsa Maju on June 28 and 29 for the roles.

The Sound of Music is considered one of the world’s best as they have won prestigious accolades including the Tony Awards and Grammy Awards. The film adaptation of the musical inn 1965 starring Dame Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer has even won five Academy Awards.

The musical features unforgettable songs that we have grown up with as My Favourite Things, Edelweiss, Do-Re-Mi, Sixteen Going On Seventeen, The Lonely Goatherd, Climb Every Mountain and The Sound Of Music.
