The name Jalan Bukit Nanas is derived from the name of the location itself, Bukit Nanas, which is a direct translation to ‘Pineapple Hill’.
That hillock is one of the earliest Malay settlement and also the centre of Malay power during the old era. It was believed that the pineapple was planted on the hill slopes to deter the advancement of attacking enemies during the Selangor Civil War.
