Jalan Raja Abdullah

Jalan Raja Abdullah is named after Raja Abdullah bin Raja Jaafar, who has greatly influenced the development of Selangor in the 19th century. He was a descendent of Daeng Parani, the eldest of the five Upu brothers related to the Sulawesi ruling family that have moved to settle in Riau-Lingga.

Before the road was renamed as Jalan Raja Abdullah, it was known as Hale Road, named in honour of Abraham Hale, who was the Collector of Land Revenue Kuala Lumpur and Registrar of Titles Selangor. He was appointed as the first Vice President of the Malay Agricultural Settlement Board and he was very well acquainted with the Malays.

As this road is the main entrance into Kampung Baru, it was named after him in appreciation of his dedication to the creation of the settlement.
