Jalan Hang Lekiu

Hang Lekiu is one of the comrades of the legendary Malay warrior Hang Tuah who were martially trained by Adi Putra.

Before it was renamed to Jalan Hang Lekiu, the street’s name was Klyne Street which refers to the Klyne brothers. John F. Klyne, one of the Klyne brothers was involved in the setting out of early central Kuala Lumpur.

Klyne was the leading member of the Eurasian Roman Catholic community in Kuala Lumpur and one of the founders of Selangor Museum. His brother F.C. Klyne, an apothecary and chemist, operates a pharmacy at the junction of High Street and Klyne Street.
