Originally named as Residency Road and changed to Brockman Road and subsequently it was renamed in 1963 as Jalan Dato Onn in honour of Dato’ Sir Onn bin Dato’ Jaafar.
He was a former Chief Minister of Johor who have played an important role in the movement for the country’s independence and also one of the founder of the political party, United Malays National Organisation (UMNO).
