Jalan Raja Laut

This road was named in honour of Raja Laut, the second son of Sultan Muhammad, the third Sultan of Selangor. Raja Laut is literally translated to ‘King of the Seas’, as he was born at sea, near Lukut.

An influential Malay leader was the Penghulu of Kuala Lumpur and was given the tasks to officiate Malay marriages during that time. He was also one of the first four members appointed to the Sanitary Board of Kuala Lumpur.

When Raja Sulaiman bin Raja Musa ascended to the throne in 1900, Raja Laut was appointed as the Raja Muda (Crown Prince) of Selangor.
