Peranakan or better known as Baba Nyonya is a mixed heritage with Chinese descendants who migrated from China in particularly to Penang, Malacca and Singapore getting married with the local Malays.
Due to the significant amalgamation of different ethnics, the inter-marriages have created a unique culture itself. This has resulted to the creation of its specific cuisine and dishes as well.
Despite the Peranakan identity getting smaller, the cuisine is ever popular in Malaysia. If you’ve never tried before, go get it and I’m sure you’ll love the blend of spices, herbs and ingredients in the meals. Here’s some of the places where you can find Peranakan cuisine.
